This part of the standard covers safety glass used in cars, trucks, buses, and other road vehicles. It specifies requirements, sampling procedures, and test methods for windscreens, rear glass, and side windows.
Safety glass must be manufactured from AA or A-grade clear flat glass in accordance with IS 2835:1987. Float glass may also be used. The thickness must conform to standard requirements and be verified using the prescribed test methods. Dimensions such as height, width, and corner limits must remain within the values specified in the standard.
